Save the date and get your tickets for an unforgettable evening! AFSF’s annual Beaux Arts Ball is returning for the first time since 2018. This highly-anticipated event will be a part of the closing festivities for AIA SF’s Architecture + The City Festival this year, as well!
Join us on Thursday, September 28th at the historic Green Room in San Francisco for a spectacular gala featuring a live jazz band, casino tables, and the traditional Beaux Arts costume contest. More information about the event is provided below.

What to Expect:
History of the Beaux Arts Ball:
The origins of the Beaux Arts Ball trace back to the 19th century in Paris in which faculty and students at the École des Beaux Arts (translates to School of Fine Arts in French) hosted the very first ball in 1892. The theme of the Ball asked for creativity and imagination beyond the scope of tamed human minds. Architects, painters, and sculptors drew inspiration from Carnival in the creation of elaborate haute costumes and floats. Prizes were awarded to the most outlandish and successful interpretations. Such wild and taboo activity (at the time) opened doors for future generations; almost 200 years later the celebration continues here in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area.

AFSF’s mission is to provide architectural and design students with learning programs, mentorships, and tools for a better education. We strive to inspire our future AEC leaders to become a part of the industry workforce and community. Help us achieve our goal to “design” student success – which will shape the future of the built industry, as well as to create a learning environment that offers AEC-related mentorship programs, real world experience, and design competitions for the next generation of architectural and construction professionals.
All proceeds from the funds raised at the Beaux Arts Ball go to AFSF’s student programs.
